Andrew Hammond

Andrew Hammond is Senior Director of Learning & Community at Discovery Education. He has worked in schools for 20 years, as headteacher, deputy head, director of studies, housemaster, head of English and teacher, in both the independent and maintained sectors. Prior to joining Discovery Education in September 2020, he was headteacher at Guildhall Feoffment Primary School in Bury St Edmunds.

Andrew is a regular keynote speaker at conferences across the UK and abroad including TEDx, Institute of Education and International Festival of Learning. He frequently delivers CPD training in schools of all shapes and sizes on a range of teaching and learning issues, specialising in the ‘hidden curriculum’: how we observe, track and report on the attitudes, behaviours and skills that lie behind academic grades.

He is an author of over thirty educational books for a range of major publishers, including Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press and Rising Stars. He is also a regular contributor to educational magazines, newspapers and blogs.

Andrew is currently studying for a doctorate (EdD) at the University of Buckingham, in which he is focusing on hidden learning and the power of school culture to build attitudes, behaviours and skills for life-long learning.
