MAT Excellence Awards: what are you looking forward to on the night?

Our inaugural MAT Excellence Awards are fast approaching. We spoke to some of our judges who told us the three things they’re most looking forward to at the event.

The first Optimus Education MAT Excellence Awards take place on Thursday 29 June in London. The event will give trusts the opportunity to celebrate their achievements and recognise their impact on pupils, staff, and the community.

With 12 categories including community trust of the year, MAT of the year and wellbeing trust of the year, there’s lots of exciting work to celebrate. We caught up with some of our judging panel to find out what they’re most looking forward to on the night.

Ella Savell-Boss, safeguarding consultant

  • Meeting up with all the lovely people who work at Optimus!
  • Getting to meet with the finalists in the categories I have been part of the judging panel for.
  • Being with like-minded people who are all committed to education and safeguarding for young people.

Cheryl Campbell, CEO and founder of ABBLed

It’s a great honour to be asked to be on the judging panel; I am in great company. These awards are an opportunity to celebrate colleagues and amplify the great work being done across the education sector.

I am most looking forward to networking and making some new connections, celebrating the achievements of the shortlisted finalists hearing the journeys of the eventual winners. I am anticipating that it will be a wonderful event.

Kelly Hannaghan, mental health and wellbeing consultant

I am looking forward to the 3Cs.

  • Connection
  • Commitment
  • Celebration

Awards night will bring an opportunity for connection with all the inspiring professionals who are leading on wellbeing in education

I’m excited for the chance to see the commitment that MATs are demonstrating in their work around developing healthy school cultures.

I am most looking forward to the celebration of success in embedding a whole school approach for mental health and wellbeing in education.
